Developing social media solutions for healthcare, we are helping providers better connect with their communities. Partners include Mayo Clinic, University of Maryland and Humana. Apelzin has developed solutions using Java, Javascript, PHP, CSS and Drupal.

Aperial Corp. also provides advisory services, interim executive management, outsourced technical staffing and due diligence services in the areas of product marketing, project management and business development to commercial interactive media content providers and commercial network operators working in the areas of digital video, interactive television, advanced technical visualization and video/motion search. We focus on healthcare, higher education, transportation and finance markets/segments. I'm a co-founder and managing director with responsibility for technology and engineering. (My partner is responsible for business development.) Aperial also has a technology incubator (Aperial Technology Ventures LLC) that does early state seed investing in technologies involving advanced mathematical visualization, real-time digital video filtering, deep video search and motion-based tagging with a focus on human motion issues and opportunities.

Originally hired as a consultant for a 2 week management assignment, Apelzin was retained to provide management, sales, and technical consulting services. Apelzin was tasked to develop engineering and business solutions for Oracle-Liberate's expansion into the European and Asian markets.

• Business Development and Project Manager for AsiaPacific deployments in Korea, Japan, China, Taiwan, Singapore and Australia.

• Traveled extensively through Europe and Asia, attracting business interest and implementing analog and digital interactive cable services.

• Led effort for analog TV Set Top Boxes, including programming of key tasks and management of development and QA.

• Helped develop OCAP and ATVEF standards for set top boxes.

• Project Manager for European deployments in UK, Belgium, Spain, The Netherlands, and Denmark.

Apelzin founded company devoted to growth of youth through interactive services. The company specialized in 3D graphic based, interactive television programming and computer gaming.

Apelzin was hired to develop a children's educational software group. He led the company's engineering activities, including advanced technology, quality assurance, theatrical, audio, photography, internationalization, and technical writing/documentation. For a period, Apelzin was also Executive Producer for the company's simulations games, including fiscal responsibility, marketing, game design, and game development.

Apelzin was hired to grow and expand the company's software development group. The group was grown from 15 to 55 people while developing a wide range of successful array of computer game, productivity and educational products.

• Led development of Myst, the largest selling PC-based computer game.

• Grew the successful Carmen Sandiego brand of products. This included advising the PBS-sponsored group that developed the Carmen Sandiego television program.

• Led development of Living Books, one of the first CDROM based interactive products. Developed tools that allowed non-programmers to create Living Books products.

• Managed development for Kid Pix, a top-selling brand of children's productivity products.

• Managed development for Print Shop, the largest selling pc-based productivity line of products.

• Led the development of internal tools. Tools and systems were developed to aid in the areas of animation, prototyping, graphic manipulation/organization, and cross-platform development.

• Led research of new technologies including, online services, full motion video, data compression, lifelike animation, and 3D rendering.

Apelzin was hired to work on the first computer-based pipetting tool, and to develop liquid chromatography measurement systems.

• Developed firmware for a microprocessor based pipette. This included the development of mathematical based algorithms to manage micro-stepping motors.

• Developed an Apple Macintosh based software system for the analysis of compounds through Liquid Chromatography. The system allows chemists to breakdown compounds and identify their elements, and the quantity of these elements.
  
   

Developed Unix based systems to track doctor-ordered tests in hospitals.

• Created a database management system that allows hospital administrators and clinicians to track tests run in their laboratories. Query modules allow data to be retrieved in many ways.

• Created a reporting system that allowed administrators and clinicians to review information in a variety of ways.
  
   

Developed medical instrumentation for hospital critical care.

• Developed the RAS 1600 that allowed for monitoring of hospital patients after surgery. The system measured multiple factors to determine patient health, and to allow doctors to plan for critical care.

• Assisted in the development of the LVAD, an artificial heart intended to maintain patient health until a human donor is found.

• Worked with doctors, surgeons and hospital staff through clinical trials to improve equipment operation.
  
   

Apelzin helped begin the California operations for this international weighing mechanism company. The California group developed software that weighed items to be mailed, calculated rates, and determined the most cost effective method of shipment.

• Led a team of 4 developers, creating DOS-based mailing applications.

Designed software and hardware for automotive and hardware stores. Managed project development of point of sale/inventory control systems

• Designed both hardware and software for intelligent CRT point of sale cash register. These cash registers are still in service in hardware stores.

• Software developed in assembly language for Z-80 (CRT) and Texas Instrument 990 (inventory control system).
